Service was excellent. Very helpful with the menu. Dinner salads were just the perfect size with the right amount of ingredients. The fried calamari was not the greatest, very bland and a bit rubbery, not fresh. The beef ravioli was excellent as well as the shrimp scampi.

Service was kinda slow, our waiter seemed kinda lazy, he didn't tell me anything about the menu or attempt to upsell, only gave 1 menu for 2 people which was odd. The food was mediocre and the alfredo was lacking in flavor, It was my first time being here...and my last

This is our third visit and I'm glad we came back as it was much better this time. We had the early bird special and it was a great deal. Beverage, house salad, garlic bread, entree and dessert. Hearty meat sauce over spaghetti, nicely done chicken parmigiana over fettuccine with red sauce. Sadly the spumoni was freezer burned :(

This place is a little tucked away off the main drag, so could be easy to miss. We noticed it while driving by one day, and decided to pop in one evening and give it a try. The restaurant wasn't very full, but had a nice homely feel to it. I got a combo plate of Sweet Potato Gnocchi and Lasagna, and I really love they offer a combo option to allow us to have tried more flavors. The portions were large so we both got to take left overs home. Both my dishes were very good, flavorful, and cooked well, my date said the same. Service staff was pleasant and attentive. Will look forward to coming here again and trying a few more things off the menu.

5 stars for service. The food was average, good enough to eat and get full. I would go again. Prices were great, we got the early bird special and it was a lot of food.

I thought it was great. The recipes are authentic Italian, and they are not ever microwaved. Ross makes all of his sauces from scratch. He got his recipes from his grandparents from Italy. Everything is made to order and our meals were fantastic. It's nice to have a good Italian place in the area with prices that are fair. This is a new, second location. I like it a lot better that the other restaurants that have been in that location.

It's 8pm on a Saturday night and after being turned away by 3 other Italian restaurants, we called Siragusa's and they could accommodate us as soon as we could get there. The 4 of us strolled in at 8:15 and had a good meal. The food is straightforward mid range Italian; we had carbonara, lasagna and manicotti. This is not a gourmet restaurant but neither are the prices. Dinner for 4 including a good bottle of red and dessert was under $100. The service is friendly and the food is good. The only odd thing was a small extra charge for a house salad with an entree. But for a decent meal at reasonable prices this is a good choice especially on a busy weekend.

We have dined here for dinner probably 10-12 times, picked up take-out almost the same number of times, each time the food has been solid and authentic. Living up the canyon, this has been one of our "go-to"s", especially when they were open Sundays. Let's start with the food. Easily a 4 star in value and quality. As an appetizer, the Mushrooms Marsala have no equal. Perfectly seasoned and balanced. The service is what you would expect in a homestyle Italian family establishment, efficient and friendly. Today was the first time I ventured in for lunch. And if I could turn back time and drive past, I would. Walked in 1:30ish, at what seemed to be towards the end of the lunch rush. 4-5 tables seated, eating or waiting to order. I was greeted and seated in short order. Greeted by the waitress, Amber, with water and menu in hand. A few minutes later, another woman came over to take my order as Amber was busy taking an order from another table. Placed my order, plus an order to go. In due time, my salad accompaniment comes out. Average house salad, predominately Iceberg lettuce, dotted with a few veggies, standard fare. The house dressing, a honey balsamic is a light and tangy choice. More than adequate for a $7.95 lunch special. Entree follows. Hungry, I cut and dig in to the smallish portion of 4" square poutryish meat with a light colored sauce and some cheese. "Hmmm, not what I recall ordering"... I look around and don't see either of the 2 ladies available. Oh well, as I've already had a bite, let's enjoy. Maybe wires were crossed and I really don't have the time for a reorder and recook. Soon a few tables over I see a man greet the table with the salutation "Who is the doubting Thomas"? A discussion ensues, yes, apparently there was a entree mix-up, versus simply the wrong entree being produced for me. The man walks by my table, shakes his head and rolls his eyes. Some yelling and terse words are audible in the kitchen. Check brought to the table with the to-go order, choked apologies made, tears running down her face. I tender cash payment, then decided to walk to the register area which abuts the open air kitchen, rather than wait at the table, the woman that took my order was helping the crying waitress remove the incorrect entree from my check in it's entirely. I explain, it's not necessary, but if you intend to do so, give her the refund as an additional tip, nodding in Amber's direction. "By the way, who was that man?" I inquire. "The owner" she stammers. There is always two sides to every story, but there is zero call for that type of behavior by Ross Siragusa. It's an entree. It will take 20 minutes to recook. The fact that you compelled an employee to become so upset she had tears running down her face is inexcusable. Too much Chef Reality TV for you? Chef _________ (fill in blank with appropriate derogatory name that would get this review deleted), I sincerely hope your 20 seconds of delight was worth it. PS: the 3 stars are an average: 4 for food; 4 for service and 0 for the way Ross Siragusa treats his staff (and "Doubting Thomas Customers")

April Siragusa, co-owner of Taste of Italy, reached out to me and I wanted to correct & clarify a couple of things in my review. First and foremost, this review is of my experience at Siragusa's, not a judgement on the restaurant as a whole. Two co-workers and I placed an order for takeout at their Cottonwood Heights location. We did not dine-in, and in total we spent about 15 minutes in this location. A large factor as to why my coworkers and I chose Siragusa's on this particular day was that they feature a lunch special at a sweet discount. Realistically, it would be unreasonable to expect champagne and caviar at under $10 a pop and packaged to go. But if it's not done right, why do it at all? Lastly, Aprils efforts to write the wrongs go far beyond any take-out experience. For any restaurant owners who show as much passion for the success of their business and consideration for their customers are "A-OK" in my book (and hence the one-star bump up).

Their chicken fontina lunch special was delicious! Creamy Alfredo sauce with mushrooms, onions and asparagus over angel hair pasta. I liked the minestrone soup and house salad with cucumbers and chopped hard-boiled eggs. Yummy chocolate mousse with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and hazelnut cookie.

Ate here last night. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. One downside was that the service was a bit slow. Especially since there were only 3 full tables at the restaurant. Other than that the food was great! The linguini with clam sauce is one of the best I have had in the salt lake area. Prices were also very reasonable. I am generally disappointed with all of the expensive Italian restaurants that try to be to fancy so I was relieved when I saw the comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place for some good home style cooking.

Would definitely recommend trying this. Tasty... not huge portions, but still tasty and worth trying. Super quiet for lunch, would be a good spot to hit during lunch break.

I have been back to Siragusa's and the service has been excellent. The food is wonderful and I eat there at least once a week. I recant my previous comment. It was the only time we did not receive good service. I like to try the specials and have not been disappointed. April, the owner has waited on us several times and is always so cordial.

First of all lets talk about the service, it was top notch! I called to make a reservation, and the person on the phone was so polite and helpful. We got there and the service with Kelley was great and the food was incredible. We are planning on making this spot our Friday night outing. It's great for kids, and the pricing makes it a no brainier! I pray this place stays around forever!

We came here for my mothers birthday, we were looking for a new restaurant in the area. We were able to order shortly after arriving. Our server was very friendly and outgoing, but it took over an hour to get our food. We ordered easy meals, none of which should've taken over 20 minutes. Every time I went to find someone I found the entire staff with their backs turned to the front door and guests chatting (including the cook). No wonder it took that long, it was awful we each took about 5 bites and got the rest to go in containers. Overall, I would say just stay away it's not worth the wait. Their portions are overwhelmingly large and the wait time is ridiculous, no matter how good food is, it shouldn't take over an hour to make a simple pasta.

I dunno that I'm ready to go rip-roarin' raging rave over this place, but in a town that has a surprising amount of Italian, I certainly have no complaints. There was a small group of us that came in late one night for a late supper, and we found the place mostly empty, but not that creepy "why isn't anyone here" feeling. They had a fire going in the fireplace, and we were greeted promptly, so it was cozy enough. The menu is semi-simple. Stuff breaks down into categories (pasta, etc.) but it was a larger than I expected. You can grab a combo or go with a full entree like I did. I also tried a few of my friends' meals, and quite enjoyed the sweet potato gnocchi like so many others have recommended. My beef was good. Kinda one-note, but good. Prices are pretty reasonable for what you're getting, which was a good sign. You can spend in the $20 range for their specialties, but most stuff hovers around either side of $14-15 or so. It would be fun to go back and try a few more dishes, as I really haven't had Italian food in years. There are lots of Italian places around SLC, and this is one of them.

I want Salt Lake to have some amazing Italian restaurants. We have an okay amount of Italian restaurants but it's hard for me to say a lot of them are AMAZING. I would say that Siragusa is sort of upper middle ground for me. Not the best thing I've ever had but I've been to plenty of places that are a lot worse. I guess you could say it's pretty standard Utah Italian food. I went with a small group later in the evening and we were greeted with a nice fire going and a friendly server. The menu is fairly standard with various pastas, ___ parmesan, and salads. We tried their sampler plate with fried mozzarella, calamari, and fried zucchini...because who doesn't want fried, fried, and more fried? Nothing blew my mind but it all tasted just fine. For entrees, they have a option to do half and half so I opted for sweet potato gnocchi and lasagna so that I could try a couple of things. I thought it was tasty but again, nothing blew me away. I want to say that was the general consensus for the table: good but nothing to write home about. The server was attentive and friendly and that's always a plus. I'd say my review is 3.5 stars. I'd eat at Siragusa's again but I'm not dying to go there tomorrow.

My wife loves Italian food...I mean LOVES it (possibly as much as she loves me). So we try several places each year. We live near Siragusa's and had never been before. The atmosphere was fantastic, a really interesting marriage between contemporary and classical Italian restaurants. The service was also good, our waitress was smiley, pleasant, and on top of our orders. People were nice and two other staff members came and asked how everything was. (These guys really take care of you and you start to feel like everyone has taken on the role of the adopted Italian mother...minus the yelling.) The food got mixed reviews. My wife got the combo plate with Chicken Parm and Alfredo while I got Sweet Potato Gnocchi and Orzo Florentine. She really enjoyed her dishes while I found mine to be okay. I've recently developed a love of Gnocchi having had it on a vacation we took to Las Vegas a couple of months ago and this one, while nice, seemed to lack any depth of flavor. The Orzo Florentine seemed to have even less taste. Maybe someone forgot the seasoning or perhaps I'm not versed in Italian dishes enough to realize that these dishes are supposed to be bland. That being said, I can be a little snooty about food and I may have been a little too hard on them. The pricing was fantastic. Very reasonable and enough to save me a little money that had been budgeted for date night. All in all, a place to certainly check out. My wife has already let me know we'll be going back again. Next time I'll stick with some of the more traditional dishes and see if I'm being overly picky.

Had the gnocchi and Gorgonzola shrimp which were both delightful. Very rich and creamy. We came in just before close and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. I'll be back for sure.

A nice and relaxing restaurant. I've had a few different items, and most were definitely in the "good" category...favorites being their Pesto Chicken Sandwich (great waffle fries as well, but only get them if you're dining, they don't travel well!), the Chicken Gorgonzola and the Orzo Florentine. Didn't care for their Sausage and Peppers Sub and a friend who joined one time didn't like the veal they used for one of their pasta dishes (said it tasted like a microwave dinner meat). Servers are always very polite and patient, though they could be a TAD faster on refilling drinks. A nice place all in all.

I'm a snob when it comes to Italian food, and this place is probably the best (decently priced) italian food I've found in the valley. The service is lovely and I enjoy the atmosphere. I've had exceptional servers every time. Most of the pasta dishes have vegetables thoughtfully added to enhance the flavors, which I appreciate a whole lot. The downside is that I can tell that their stuffed pastas (with the exception of mannicotti) are from a freezer. I do not mind this but other people might. I think that its still quite delicious and go back regularly. The salads are amazing!

This is a nice little restaurant. We had the caprece salad to start. It was good, different from all caprese I have eaten, it would've been better with no lettuce and another slice or two of tomato and mozzarella. I had the gnocchi and carbonara, both were very good. We had the tiramisu, it was your normal tiramisu. Service was good, overall for the price the food was well worth it.

Perfect lunch portions! Comes with salad and small pasta for only $8 or $9. The Alfredo sauce was light and rich in flavor - perfect combo. The creamy Italian dressing was delicious and I really enjoyed the egg on my salad.

Had high expectations, but what a disappointment! Right off the bat they couldn't find our reservation, then sat 4 adults into the smallest booth they had. We sat at the table for 11 minutes before a waitress came to our table. Ordered the Farmhouse chicken, another disappointment. Chicken chunks served with watery mushroom onion "gravy" over spaghetti noodles. I didn't eat even half. The waitress either had too many tables in her section, or was a complete dingbat. We also saw other tables either waiting for their check or their food..Boooo! Will not be going back.

It was actually pretty darn good. Had the minestrone soup and gnocchi. Soup was solid. Gnocchi looked a little weird with the spinach and mushrooms, but it actually tasted really good. I'm glad it came with those things and was a well-blended combination of tastes. Lunch combo was the perfect portion. And it was quite affordable. Definitely will come again and try more things.

The wait staff was friendly but that is about the best that can be said for this family restaurant. Most of the food tasted as if it came from a bag or a can, and was hardly better than opening a frozen italian dinner from a grocery store. We had the house wine which tasted like it came from a box or a jug, but at least it was reasonably priced. The food was two combo plates, one with Lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. The lasagna was bland, and the sauce over done. The melted cheese on top was good, but no better than anywhere else. The spaghetti was run of the mill. I added spicy sausage to mine which was actually pretty good, but I think it was Colosimo's. The meatballs weren't terrible, but I have had better almost everywhere else including swans, the home delivery service. My wife's dish was far worse. The Sweet Potato Gnocchi was interesting in that it combined spinach and sweet potato, but the preparation removed all of the flavors of either ingredient and buried what was left in a very bland cream sauce. Raw milk has more flavor. The other alfredo dish was not good, I am not a fan of alfredo to begin with so I can't offer specifics other than to say my wife, who is a fan of the dish in general, really disliked it. For sides we had the included garlic bread which was over warmed, and under flavorful. The bread you pick up for 2.99 near the checkout of most groceries is better by far, which is not praise in my book. The worst part of the entire meal was the limp, 4 day old salad with terrible dressing. We were pretty sure they had used a ceaser salad kit that had gone bad, but when the table behind us complained of the same thing the waitress assured them it was made fresh on location. I can't say where it as made, but I can dispute the claim of freshness. The croutons that were served were toasted to the point it actually hurt to bite into them. We were offered dessert that sounded like it might be good, but I wasn't willing to throw good money after bad. All in all this wasn't the worst restaurant experience ever, just a close runner up.

About as good as a lean cuisine, minus the lean. Greasy and gross. I heard a microwave ding about 8x while waiting for our food. I was excited to find a new restaurant with gluten free options, because my husband and daughter both have celiac disease. We won't be returning. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because my kids liked their pizza.

Next visit mirrors previous experiences. After 3-4 dinners this place is good, not great. Casual rather than special. Reasonable in pricing.

Impressive ! We are slight restaurant snobs. Missed our reservation at the latest hotspot, we stopped here starved. Vinyl checked tablecloth, family oriented - didn't expect too much. But it was very well executed. Easily on par with Trio, but cheaper, and the waiter isn't trying to convince himself how cool he is. I will be back to this neighborhood secret. Oh wait, the owner and Chef just visited our table. Am I really in Sandy?

Friendly staff but the food isnt too much to write home about. I have the spicy clam linguini and it was overwhelmed with diced, canned clam pieces. The potato gnocchi (too much parsley) and lasagna was bland. My kid liked the buttered spaghetti and garlic cheese bread. I was expecting better and probably wont return.

I was excited to have a new Italian in our neighborhood. We stopped by late with kids after a school meeting. There was only one other table being served when we got there which made me a little nervous, but they are new. Our server was very attentive and pleasant, but started by bringing us the wrong salad. She did catch her mistake and brought us the corrected salad with our entrees. Unfortunately, neither salad was anything to write home about. The food we ordered was very bland. Farmhouse Chicken, which did have the texture and consistency of something that had been just heated up, with a piece of lunch meat on the the top. I had a Pasta with mushrooms, large serving size, but it was bland as well. My daughter who is only 4, but normally obsessed with meatballs in almost any form, informed us after one bite - she no longer likes meatballs. (it did have a funny almost minty taste). Its not particularly expensive, but given the quality, I felt it was priced a little to high compared to others in the same market. They are new and because they are so close and others seem to have had a much better experience we would probably give them another try - but we do have some pretty amazing Italian available in Cottonwood Heights as of late - so it will be a while before we go back.

I have to admit this wasn't our first choice for dinner tonight. It's Valentines Day and we took off for our go to celebration restaurant Red Lobster. I thought we had beat the system by getting to the place at 5:00pm. No parking, and people waiting all over the lobby and lined up outside. We went cruising and found this restaurant just by chance. We had a great experience. We didn't have a reservation, but they found room for us anyway. We got a nice booth and we started off with the bruschetta appetizer which was terrific. We both had shrimp scampi and discovered that they make their own pasta to order and prepare their sauce fresh every day. It was evident that the extra effort they went to made for very nice meals. The salad as mostly iceberg which I appreciated. I'm not a big fan of salads made with designer greens. They were crisp and cold. Our server took very good care of us and made sure we had a nice meal. We will be back.

All in all pretty good. I prefer thinner bread, when it's that thick it's to filling. Cappallini with pesto was good as was the Alfredo. The sauce was creamy and had good flavor.

We love this place! The food is really good, the service and ambience is great and so reasonable. I highly recommend ... can't go anywhere else Italian! The only thing that could improve is the salad, but that's it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
